Sandra Cuevas Prepares for New Elections

The former mayor of Cuauhtémoc, Sandra Cuevas, called for not further dividing the vote and pointed directly at the leader of the far-right, accusing him of not living in Mexican territory. She emphasized that anyone who does not truly know the country should not aspire to be a candidate for anything.

Cuevas announced that she will finance her upcoming foray into politics with funds from her own company, Sandra Cuevas Diamond Group, which has ten different businesses. Emphasizing transparency, she expressed the importance of avoiding the use of public resources for political purposes and her determination to use her own money for her political project.

The former mayor detailed that she plans to hold 200 small events to tour Mexico City and promote her return to the local political scene. After a failed attempt as a senator through Movimiento Ciudadano, Cuevas is seeking new allies to consolidate her political power and scheduled an event at the Arena of Mexico City for April 15 with the participation of more than 20,000 people.

At a press conference, she revealed that she will launch a call on February 1 through her political force, the Organization for Family and Security of Mexico, to recruit potential candidates for mayorships ahead of the 2027 elections. The selected profiles will later be integrated into an existing opposition party, although she did not specify which one.

Despite remaining active on social media with mysterious posts, recent announcements indicate her political intentions for the future. Cuevas anticipates that the only party working against the government is PAN, and called on prominent opposition figures, such as Guadalupe Costa Naranjo, Xóchitl Gálvez, and Eduardo Verástegui, to join forces to defeat Morena and reclaim what she claims has been destroyed. The call for unity will take place starting February 1.
